At present, China has the world’s largest rare earth reserves and production. Therefore, China has the unique advantage of producing NdFeB permanent magnet. At present, China is the main producer and exporter of NdFeB permanent magnet, and mainly middle-level and low-end products, and the production capacity of medium- and low-end products is surplus, so the supply and demand of high-performance NdFeB permanent magnet materials are basically balanced.

 1.NdFeB permanent magnet supply

In 2016, the output of NdFeB permanent magnet in the world was 132,800 metric tons, of which, the output of NdFeB permanent magnet materials in China was 112.3 thousand tons, accounting for 84.94%.

2.High performance NdFeB permanent magnet material supply

In 2016, the global output of high-performance NdFeB permanent magnet materials was approximately 4.5 million tons, the output of high-performance NdFeB permanent magnet manufacturing in China was approximately 2.5 million tons, accounting for 55.56%, significantly lower than that of rare earth permanent magnet materials. .

3.Trading NdFeB magnets in China

China’s rare earth permanent magnet materials are net exports, and the net export volume (exports minus imports) increased from 19,000 tons in 2014 to 2.46 million tons in 2016, an increase of 29.59%.
